Spotlight on Fourfront Group’s rejuvenation of a dated building at the heart of a landmark development near Tower Bridge.
The Cooperage was a dated, dysfunctional and underutilised space, lacking any distinctive character, but conveniently located within the dynamic Shad Thames district of London. As part of an ongoing investment programme, Columbia
Threadneedle purchased and planned to market The Cooperage as the heartbeat of its new Courage Yard redevelopment. The task of Fourfront Group’s design & fit-out company Area was to reinvent the appeal and identity of the building, while optimising and improving the office space.
The building was initially stripped back to its basic shell and core form, but further major structural alterations followed to reshape the space. A complete Cat A fit-out was completed, including services, sprinklers, atrium, WC and shower block facilities, a substantial feature reception and a new accommodation staircase accessing the upper floors.
